Effective group psychotherapy leadership is an art grounded in one’s foundational training, clinical supervision, ongoing consultation, and professional development. It is an evolving skill set with experience playing a significant role in shaping one’s attitudes towards leadership and group members, and one’s approaches, style, and expertise as a leader. Through a transforming group leadership lens, this workshop’s core focus will be threefold, (a) to provide an opportunity for reflection on one’s holistic approaches to group leadership, (b) to encourage active examination of the intersectionality of leadership choices with the dynamics of power, privilege and oppression in groups, and (c) to engage in focused dialogue on the power of using the “here and now” as a tool for directing intentional intercultural interactions and healing in groups.

Lectures, breakout sessions, and group-as-a-whole discussions will be utilized to increase participants engagement, understanding of content and to advance the objectives of this workshop. This program features small intensive breakout groups so registration is limited to 65 participants. We encourage participants to register early. Visit the Institute website for more information: https://hgps.org/2022-hgps-institute/
